Crash Finds His Forever Home
Crash, the Black Mouth Cur puppy brought to Alaqua Animal Refuge in late February after apparently being dragged behind a vehicle, was adopted this week. Four month old Crash arrived at Alaqua Animal Refuge when he was only about 8 weeks old and spent the critical socialization period of his life living in our medical facility having his wounds tended to each day by our caring veterinary staff. He made a full recovery thanks to the help of dozens of people who helped Alaqua with his expensive care.
Joanna Hackett and her son Ryan first saw Crash in the newspaper. “There was just something about him that just got me” said Joanne, who resides in Niceville. “He just looked so pitiful with those big brown eyes”.
Once the Hackett’s learned that Crash was ready for adoption, they came out to visit him, passed the test with his former caregivers and were able to bring him home. He is adjusting nicely and is happy to be part of a family. Alaqua offered the new owner free puppy socialization classes to help make up for lost “puppy” time.
Crash made headlines as the first animal in Walton County to be featured with Crime Stoppers, which offers a reward for any information leading to the arrest of a person committing a crime. Alaqua Animal Refuge is excited about the relationship with Crime Stoppers and will be working with them to promote the wellbeing of animals in our area.
