McCaskill & Company Wag & Win Rolex Giveaway Raises nearly $15,000 for Alaqua Animal Refuge
Local Restaurateur George Hartley wins the rare Rolex Cosmograph Daytona watch in the July 25th raffle

Destin, Fla. (July 28, 2009) – McCaskill & Company announces that nearly $15,000 was raised through the Wag & Win Rolex Giveaway to benefit Alaqua Animal Refuge, an independent, non-profit organization located in Freeport, FL that advocates the general welfare and humane treatment of animals by providing shelter, prevention of pet overpopulation and adoption services. Alys Beach resident George Hartley, owner of local restaurants the Seagrove Market Café, George’s, and Mi Cocina, won the raffle which was drawn by Dottie Garrard, the wife of retired Chairman of the Board of Purina. The Wag & Win Rolex Giveaway has been one of the highest grossing fundraisers to date for Alaqua Animal Refuge with a 100% of proceeds going directly to the Refuge.
Tickets were sold at the McCaskill & Company store location for $25 each, and the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona raffled for the promotion is an exclusive, highly coveted watch valued at nearly $10,000. In attendance at the raffle were both McCaskill & Company owners Bill and Elizabeth Campbell and Alaqua Animal Refuge president and founder Laurie Hood. Hood called George Hartley to let him know of his win, and he came by the store to receive his prize.
“I’ve always made an effort to help local establishments by contributing in whatever way I can, and when I received the email from Bill and Elizabeth about the Wag & Win Giveaway, there was no question of whether or not to participate,” explained Hartley of his decision to purchase a raffle ticket. “The Campbell’s are always promoting good causes and we’ve met Laurie before and feel that Alaqua is a very deserving organization. And for a chance to win a Rolex, why not? Although I’ve never won anything, and certainly didn’t expect to win this, I am so incredibly happy that Alaqua raised the funds they did and my hat is off to the Campbell’s. My wife looks great wearing the new watch!”
“We are so thrilled with the outcome of the Wag & Win Rolex Giveaway,” explained Elizabeth Campbell, co-owner of McCaskill & Company. “Our original goal was to raise $10,000—the value of the Rolex, and to have surpassed it by over $4,000 is so exciting. Bill and I are lifelong animal lovers, and we believe Laurie is providing our area such an incredible and much needed service with Alaqua. We are honored to be able support the organization.”
